The Bell’s and Foxy’s

Summer Series 2004/05

Following on from the Winter Development Series, ACT Swimming has introduced a Summer Series that will run during the 2004/05 summer season.

There will be two divisions in the Summer Series: Development and Intermediate.

There will be 9 core events: 50m and 100m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and 200m IM. Series points will accumulate for these events only. The meet may offer a range of other events in addition to the core events.

A swimmer will be able to enter five (5) core events at any one meet.

The entry time used for any event should be the swimmers best time since 1 October 2003.

The first swim in any event in the Series will set the swimmers starting time and will earn 2 points. Points will be earned in second and subsequent swims for a given event within the Series on the basis of completing an event with bonus points for improvement over the established Series time. (See ** below for exclusion)

3 points

4 points

if better than previous best time by 2 second but less than 3 seconds

5 points

if better than previous best time by 3 seconds or more

2 points

Who can swim as part of the Series?

Any swimmer aged 10 and under can take part in the Series without restriction i.e. no Intermediate break time applies to swimmers aged 10 and under.

For swimmers aged 11 and over:  For the first swim in an event in the Series, the swimmers best time (either long course or converted short course) established since 1 October 2003 will be checked against club/ACT records. Any swimmer aged 11 or older who has a time better than the Intermediate break time will not be classified as a Series swimmer for that event and should not enter that event.

** Once a swimmer competed in the Series in a given event they can continue to participate in the Series in that event after breaking the Intermediate break time however they will not be entitled to any points for such a swim.

Development v. Intermediate Swimmer

A swimmer will be classified as an Intermediate level swimmer if they have broken the development break time in five (5) or more core events.

Intermediate Break Times:

The Intermediate break times are set at the 2005 ACT Championship Qualifying Time, where the event is part of the ACT Championships.
